Tiffany & Co. 1940s Aquamarine and Diamond Chrysanthemum Brooch
$13,500
Created in the 1940s, this Tiffany & Co. Retro chrysanthemum flower brooch is composed of aquamarines, diamonds and 18K gold. Highly three dimensional in form, the large brooch is designed as a full Anastasia chrysanthemum blossom centering oval and circular-cut aquamarines, interspersed with high polished reflecting petals, framed by old single-cut diamond and gold pistils. Like the luxuriant blossoms themselves, the opulent brooch fills the palm of a cupped hand, while the icy blue tones of the aquamarines evoke a summer seaside garden.

These lavish and delicate 1940s jewels by Tiffany capture summer flowers in full bloom. The pale icy-blue old aquamarines off-set by the polished concave petals with their glowing gold and shadow offer a sense of depth, echoed by the exaggerated curvature of the outer petals that disappear to the eye, allowing the diamonds seemingly to float like drops of moisture on the blooms. Superb Tiffany jewelry of the war era is hard to find.
