Pioneers like Marcel Tolkowsky applied the latest attainments in science to the art of diamond cutting in the early 20th century, and today, in keeping with technological advances, many rough crystals are precisely mapped internally and cut in part by laser before hand finishing. This diamond, however, was artfully fashioned by a master as to proportions and angles in the mid to late 20th century, before the development of these advanced digital tools. This gem is spready, not deep, appearing larger than most diamonds of its weight, yet it retains a wonderful luminosity, with little light escape through its pavilion.
