David Webb regularly wandered the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York for design inspiration. He particularly loved the powerful gold work displayed in the Africa, Americas, and Greek and Roman departments, and returned frequently to harvest ideas from goldsmiths working in other milennia. From their ancient work, he created new jewelry that seemed to blend seamlessly with contemporary aesthetics in fashion.
