Louis Comfort Tiffany for Tiffany & Co. Enamel Necklace
$115,000
Created circa 1910 by Louis Comfort Tiffany of Tiffany & Co. with the collaboration of Julia Munson, this necklace is formed of 18K gold and plique-à-jour enamel. It is designed as a double row of circular twisted filigree elements of stylized foliate design with pale green plique-à-jour enamel accents, all joined by delicate tracelink chain and completed by a conforming clasp of two conjoined filigree links, one freely suspended. An artistic creation of extraordinary lightness and refinement, this beautiful handmade jewel is one of Louis Tiffany's sophisticated "little missionaries of art."

Louis Comfort Tiffany and Julia Munson were early partners in the creation of artistic jewelry, collaborating from 1904-1914. In 1906, they showed a necklace at 1906 Paris salon. The pair's original handmade jewels in this style formed of twisted wire and plique-à-jour enamel, based loosely on classical forms, are feather light and exquisite.
