René Lalique Glass Scarab Necklace
Created circa 1908-1910, this glass and 18K gold scarab necklace by René Lalique is designed as a flexible collar of molded glass, composed of stylized scarabs alternating with curved foliate motifs, all mounted in gold. A striking form, while light and comfortable to wear, this classic Lalique glass design is held in several European museum collections.

A modernist take on the scarab necklace, Lalique made use of subtle surface patination and the gleaming gold surface beneath each crystal to create depth, shadow and variations of hue and tone in this deceptively simple form.
