Louis Majorelle Two-Tiered Fruitwood Marquetry Table

This French Art Nouveau two-tiered table by Louis Majorelle features fruitwood marquetry of the highest detail and delicacy. The piece is further adorned with cast bronze handles and is replete with a removable glass top. The table's scenery evokes both the lush exotics of Morocco and the nostalgic hills of Louis Majorelle's native France. While the top tier captures the wispy delicacy of faux jasmine, the bottom tier is decorated with blossoming buds of apple blossoms.

The top tier of this table is decorated with faux jasmine. Louis Majorelle's son, Jacques Majorelle, grew faux jasmine, a plant native to South America, in his eponymous Moroccan garden, the Jardin Majorelle.
