This exquisite pair of bronze candlesticks by Tiffany Studios New York features three root-like feet leading to a slender, tapering stem. The stem supports gold-favrile glass shades, complemented by bronze bobeche inserts. The shades are inspired by the alabastron, a small vase traditionally used to hold perfume oil. Tiffany’s artisans enhanced this classic form with a scalloped collar and ribbed sides. The base design, reminiscent of the statuesque roots of mangrove trees found along Florida’s lush coastline, adds a touch of organic elegance to the piece.

Tiffany's fascination with Florida began in 1884 when he accompanied his wife Louis to St. Augustine. Starting in 1909 Tiffany made annual winter visits to Miami until he eventually settled in his final estate, Comfort Lodge located on the prestigious Millionaire's row. Appropriately, his estate was beautifully surrounded by ancient mangroves.
