Tiffany Studios New York Favrile Glass Vase

$5,500

A warm composition with hints of the exotic, this Tiffany Studios New York Favrile glass vase features a rounded body with a narrow chimney neck. The coloration of the vase is two tone, with the iridescent background graduating from opalescent through yellow and pink to orange. At its girdle, this exquisitely colored vase is enlivened by a dancing trio of red lines that intertwine playfully as they twirl towards steep peaks and valleys.

Favrile is the trade name Louis Comfort Tiffany gave to his blown art glass. The name derives from the Latin word fabrilis, meaning "made by hand." The technique was developed at Tiffany Furnaces in the mid-1890s using filaments from batches of differently colored glass and working the material while the glass was still molten.
