Van Cleef & Arpels Paris Diamond Panther Brooch

This Van Cleef & Arpels Paris diamond, onyx and emerald panther brooch is set in 18K gold. The hunting panther with marquise-cut emerald eyes and pave-set diamond body accented by cabochon onyx spots stalks along a sloping textured 18K gold tree branch. The artist Evelyne Poumellec, a "jewellery designer to royals and celebrities," created high style jewelry for Van Cleef & Arpels, Garrard, Graff, and Boucheron in the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. Her elegant designs run from distinctive and energetic animal brooches to glamorous gem-set jewels, including a swan brooch and necklace and pendant earring suite by Garrard for Princess Diana, inspired by the Princess's favorite ballet, Swan Lake. At Van Cleef & Arpels, she was entrusted with designing contemporary ballerina brooches and updates to jewelry inspired by the Philippine collection. Additionally, she was tapped to design special commissions for "serti mystérieux" jewels in the 2000s. Her designs can be found in the Van Cleef & Arpels Heritage Collection. Further information on the designer and her important creations can be found on her Instagram account, evelynepoumellec.
