Amethyst Rivière Necklace and Earrings Suite
This gorgeous English Victorian suite, consisting of an oval amethyst rivière necklace and amethyst and diamond earrings, dates from the early to mid-19th century, when new sources of colored stones discovered in Brazil inspired European jewelers to create vibrant, gemmy jewels. The amethysts, which are gracefully and simply set in refined gold mounts known as “collets,” enhance the eye's reading of the necklace and earrings as a wearable river, with cascades of rich, sparkling purple gems. Sold exclusively as a matching set.
